The actors’ four-bedroom home is now a boutique villa available to book
Far from the tourist-frequented streets of Fort Kochi, Panampilly Nagar is in a quiet part of the city with cafes, boutique stores, and yoga studios. Winding through this enclave is KC Joseph Road, which was drawn into the city’s map in the 1970s. On this tree-lined stretch with stately residences stands Mammootty House, the former home of the legendary Malayalam film actor. The three-story home has now been thoughtfully transformed into a boutique stay, offering guests a chance to experience the lived-in warmth of a family home with all modern comforts at hand. An old mango tree in a small garden stands guard at the entrance, wide branches offering shade from the blazing summer and merciless monsoon.
The background
Mammootty & Dulquer Salmaan
For 12 years, from 2008 to 2020, Mammootty and his wife Sulfath, their actor son Dulquer Salmaan, and their daughter Surumy lived in this beautiful four-bedroom home. The family still owns the villa, but it is now managed by VKation Experiences, a provider of luxury stays across South India. When the family chose to open their home as a boutique villa for guests, VKation Experiences took over the property in January 2025, and the villa was opened to guests in April 2025.

Mammootty, a doyen of Indian cinema who has won three National Awards and 10 Kerala state awards, has a deep-rooted connection to this home. “This home has lovely memories attached to it. Although it was not constructed by us, we truly made it our own,” he says.
It was while living here that Mammootty won the Kerala State Film Award for Best Actor in 2009, for his riveting performance in the Malayalam film Paleri Manikyam: Oru Pathirakolapathakathinte Katha. This is also the space that served as his creative sanctuary while preparing for roles in acclaimed Malayalam films like Kerala Varma Pazhassi Raja in 2009, and Pranchiyettan and the Saint in 2010. Meanwhile, it was from this home that Dulquer first stepped into the world of cinema, debuting with his Malayalam film Second Show in 2012. Living here, the actor carried out his roles in the Malayalam hit film Ustad Hotel (2012) and Tamil musical OK Kanmani (2015).
The stay
Reception area
Sulfath, Mammootty’s wife, has carefully designed the minimalist, modern interiors. The living room features multiple seating areas, coffee tables, and sheer curtains to let the light in. There are nods to the family’s deep connection to cinema everywhere. Guests can leaf through books chronicling Mammootty’s cinematic journey. Some books are even available for purchase. On the wall beside the staircase is a nostalgic timeline of powerful characters essayed by him through the decades. Mammootty breathed life into many characters that sprang from late writer and director MT Vasudevan Nair’s (fondly called MT) pen, and a picture of the duo serves as a timeless reminder of their deep connection.
Mammootty suite
Rooms are named after family members and evoke their personalities. The master bedroom or Mammootty Suite has contemporary art and framed photographs above the bed, a walk-in wardrobe, bedside tables, and a large plant-filled bathroom with a rain shower. There’s a balcony overlooking the yard and a mango tree; a space from where the actor used to greet his fans. The second room, named Dulquer’s Abode, has marble floors and a walk-in wardrobe and reflects the actor's passion for automobiles with miniature scale model cars.
“I stayed here after moving back from Dubai,” Dulquer recalls. “I started my first film (Second Show) while living here. We were here till my daughter Marie was about two to three years old. This house holds all those memories.”
Outdoor dining area & Mammootty suite bathroom
Surumy is a graphic designer and artist, and the third bedroom, Surumy’s Space, features her vivid artwork. A downstairs guest room was once home to Mammootty’s mother and has photos of the actor’s parents.
On the top floor, a private theatre holds over 2,000 DVDs from Mammootty’s collection–an opportunity to experience cinema from the perspective of one of its most celebrated icons. There’s also a space for kids, with board games and a play area.
Food and drink
Breakfast buffet setup
There's a dining space on the ground floor, and the property offers an all-day breakfast menu. The buffet-style breakfast is a typical continental spread of sourdough and croissants, Danish pastries, baked beans, cereal, eggs, sausages, mushrooms, waffles, pancakes, as well as tea, coffee and fresh juices.
